Magpie Donnybrook, Dublin

Marie-Thérèse O’Loughlin

It was a balmy Friday morning when I took this snapshot in the garden of a magpie on the rooftop. It was relentlessly pursuing a smaller one not too far away. The bird looks very swollen? The magpies belong to this very spot, and are to be seen all the time. However, despite that, I have great difficulty in getting some good photos of same. They’re so flighty and hard to pin down. I never seem to catch the perfect moment. Nonetheless, this one is a focussed one, which I’m pleased with indeed. There is a large nest nearby. See: next image
